Presents the habit of hiding Araucaria seeds, as a means of storing food, forgetting often some of them. This Act can be considered as an act of dispersion. In this process, the Blue Jays jam the pine nuts in the ground or on fallen logs in soil, already in the process of putrefaction, or even in the aerial parts of roots in the same conditions, place conducive to the formation of a new tree. With this, the Blue Jay fulfills an important role as the main seed spreader of Araucaria.
